I'm Leander. I've been doing freelance video editing for about 7 years — and more recently I've been picking up the camera side too. Clientbase is the tool I desperately needed for my own work.
Every video project comes with the same routine: create folders, sort footage, track hours, send invoices, chase payments, remember which client wanted which revision. None of it is creative work — but all of it eats into the time I could spend actually editing. The tiny bits just added up and made it all a mess.
I tried the usual mix. A spreadsheet for clients, a separate invoicing tool, a basic timer, a folder template I copy-pasted for every new project. It kind of worked on the technical side, but everything was scattered and none of it understood what a video project actually looks like: footage, revisions, deliverables, deadlines.
Clientbase is a native macOS app that brings together everything a freelance video editor or videographer needs to run their business: client management, invoicing, time tracking, project management, and a clear picture of how your business is doing — in one place, designed around how video projects actually work.
It sets up your project folder structure automatically, helps you sort incoming footage, tracks the hours you put into each job, and turns them into invoices — including the tax details freelancers need, without you having to think about it twice. No data gets lost. No tab-switching. Just a clear head.
Clientbase isn't a side project I built to sell — it's the tool I run my own business on. Every feature in it exists because I needed it myself. When something is missing or broken, I feel it too. That's what keeps the motivation going.
I want freelance video work to feel less like running a startup and more like what it actually is: creative work that you happen to do for clients. The admin side should disappear into the background. Clientbase is my attempt at making that happen.
